Scott Brown is a major injury worry ahead of Celtic’s Europa League tie against RB Leipzig on Thursday.

The hoops skipper returned from a two match injury absence to start today’s 4-2 win over Hibs but was replaced after 20 minutes by Scott Sinclair.

Callum McGregor dropped into the holding midfield role alongside Olivier Ntcham with Eboue Kouassi also getting a stint in that role.

Brown missed the matches against RB Salzburg and St Johnstone with Celtic waiting anxiously to find out the extent of today’s knee injury.

“We won’t know for the next couple of days, he looks like he was struggling, we’ll just need to wait on the diagnosis  at the moment,” Rodgers told Radio Scotland after the match. “We’ll just wait and see, it was his knee.”

Rodgers was unable to give any indication as to Leigh Griffiths’ prospects of being available to face RB Leipzig on Thursday.

Despite the loss of Brown Celtic were fully deserving of their 4-2 win in a match in which they struck the woodwork four times.

First half goals from Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham put Celtic in the driving seat with a second half double from Odsonne Edouard ensuring a home win as the champions moved into second place.
