The timing of Neil McCann’s sacking seems very suspect.

Eleven days after losing 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock the Dens Park club have axed the former Sky Sports pundit.

Seven defeats in their opening eight Premiership matches are hard to argue with but time is at a premium ahead of Saturday’s match at Livingston.

Had McCann been axed after the Killie defeat the club would have had a week to select a replacement and a full week for the new man to prepare for his first match.

Although they are at the bottom of the Premiership table there are three teams within three points which would quickly give a more acceptable look to the table.

Following the visit to Livingston Dundee face Hearts and Celtic in successive midweek matches.

There has been no word from Dundee of a caretaker manager with former Sevco striker Kenny Miller, recently signed on a two year contract, the obvious choice to take control.
