Western Melbourne are destined for 24 hours of fame.

Scott Brown is their target according to a report in the Daily Mail with just a few ‘minor’ obstacles to overcome.

Western Melbourne don’t have a league place, manager or stadium.

Had those three issues been in place there would certainly be some sort of appeal for Brown after more than a dozen years at the coal face of Scottish football.

An extension to his Celtic contract is under discussion which will include a pathway into coaching as well as the prospect of going into history as one of the most decorated players in Scottish football.

Getting a foothold in coaching seems important to Brown who spent some time with the Celtic Development side while Ronny Deila was in charge.

When his current contract expires he’ll be 34-year-of-age although no one dare write him off or suggest that he is winding down.

Western Melbourne have grabbed some headlines, now they just need a licence, a boss and some bricks and mortar before they get to put a team together.
