Tony Watt believes that James Forrest is the best player he ever played alongside.

In 2012 Watt burst on the scene, scoring twice on his debut as a substitute away to Motherwell before an unforgettable strike against Barcelona.

Forrest had already made the breakthrough before Watt joined the club, playing a key part in the 2011/12 title success and turning the match around when he appeared as a substitute in the away win over Spartak Moscow.

Watt played alongside Gary Hooper, Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Scott Brown but believes that the flying winger tops them all.

Who is the best player I’ve played with? James Forrest I’d say,” the St Johnstone striker told Radio Clyde.

He was just unbelievable. He had a hard time with injuries when I was there but when he came out to training he would just terrorise people.

I sat in the stand at the Nou Camp one night. He just tore Jordi Alba apart and I just thought this guy is special.

I was always his biggest fan on social media and people used to go against it, maybe because he’s quiet and is not out there.

Now I get to laugh at all the comments I look back at.

He was a scapegoat for a while, that’s what annoyed me because of how good he is.

I know he’s fast, but how he can do the things he does running at that pace is just on another planet.”

Forrest recently signed a new four year contract to commit his future to Celtic.

After coming through the Academy ranks he made his debut in 2010, like Watt scoring as a substitute against Motherwell while Neil Lennon was caretaker manager.
