BBC Scotland has ignored Dave King’s latest court room defeat.
The Scottish Sun and STV felt that it was newsworthy to report that an appeal to dismiss his Contempt of Court charge was rejected by Lady Wolffe at the Court of Session but the state broadcaster decided not to publish that news.
Just after 2pm yesterday James Mulholland gave a detailed breakdown of King’s latest defeat including analysis of the verdict.
Soon afterwards STV provided similar coverage but despite their vastly superior resources covering radio, television and on-line the BBC decided to stay silent.
The last coverage of the South African based criminal on the BBC website was applying some positive spin to the recently announced losses of £14m by the struggling Ibrox club. No one at the BBC has provided analysis of the Ibrox accounts.
Yesterday’s defeat for King means that he will be charged with Contempt of Court at the end of this month over his refusal to comply with a Takeover Appeal Panel ruling that he offers 20p per share to those outwith his concert party takeover of the company in 2015.
That would involve placing £11m in a UK escrow account with King coming up with various excuses for not complying.
If found guilty of Contempt King will firstly be hit with a massive fine, if he refuses to pay up he will then spend time with Her Majesty.
