Chris Sutton wants to see Celtic pump ‘Rangers’ at Ibrox next month.

Over the last week the ticket row has been muddied with the on-message media outlets and pundits contriving to take the issue off on a tangent.

After petitioning from online warriors Dave King decided to cut Celtic’s Ibrox allocation down to 800 in order to sell an additional 7,000 season tickets.

In the Daily Record Sutton writes:

The truth is for the good of the game, the occasion and the spectacle I hope Celtic pump Rangers as usual at Ibrox at Christmas.

Another Yuletide hammering in front of their own supporters might be the only way to make them see sense. Slashing tickets doesn’t win football matches but it does hurt the image of the game.

I can understand Peter Lawwell saying if safety can’t be guaranteed then they won’t take up the minuscule allocation.

The real reason of course was that the sight of 7,000 gloating Celtic fans celebrating at Ibrox was just too painful for the gullible who’ve only had one Petrofac Cup success in the last seven and a half years.

Earlier this month the new Rangers club published their accounts, as well as a warning about the company continuing as a going concern there was a minimal uplift in season ticket revenue.

At Celtic Park there is a natural division between the Lisbon Lions Stand and the South Stand, fans of the tribute act were housed were in that corner with no Celtic fans above them.

Celtic are still awaiting details of arrangements for Ibrox but if it’s in line with other visiting clubs their supporters will be in easy missile range from the front and back tiers of two stands inside Ibrox.

In April 2017 one home supporter wondered unobstructed onto the pitch to confront Scott Brown with missiles including a full sized battery thrown at Scott Brown. Racist noises were directed at Scott Sinclair.

The SFA, SPFL and PFA (Scotland) made no comment about that match.
