Mikey Johnston has been withdrawn from the Scotland u-20 squad to face Turkey on Sunday in a friendly match.

The Celtic winger has been troubled by hamstring problems recently, missing out on the last two first team games after playing for 18 minutes as a substitute for the 5-0 win over Hearts.

Scotland’s u-20 manager Scot Gemmill told The Sun: “We’ve had a couple of players pull out through injuries which is unfortunate.

Mikey isn’t ready to play and Callumn came off with a problem in Hearts’ game against Kilmarnock on the weekend. We won’t be calling any others into the squad.

The trip was about giving players game time so we will go with the group we have.”

Johnston came to international attention at the end of last season when he impressed at the Toulon Tournament with his goal against England compared to a Paddy McCourt special.

This season the 19 year old has started in four first team matches for Celtic and made five substitute appearances.

With Daniel Arzani ruled out of action for the remainder of the season Jonny Hayes and Lewis Morgan are the only back up wingers currently available to Brendan Rodgers.
