Returning midfielder provides Rodgers with welcome boost

Youssouf Mulumbu was pictured taking part in training this morning at Lennoxtown.

The midfielder hasn’t been involved in the first team since the 3-1 defeat away to RB Leipzig but could be named in the side to face Hearts tomorrow.

Olivier Ntcham and Eboue Kouassi joined Scott Brown on the casualty list for the midweek win at Dundee leaving Callum McGregor as the only recognised defensive midfielder.

Brendan Rodgers was happy to give Mulumbu his debut away to Kilmarnock without playing in a reserve match and won’t have any doubts about the midfielder getting pitched in against Hearts.

Despite the growing injury list Celtic have shown signs of top form in recent domestic matches with the last four games producing an aggregate scoreline of 18-2.

Maintaining that form tomorrow against Hearts will lift the hoops to a point behind Hearts with a game in hand over Craig Levein’s side.

NB: Mulumbu isn’t Kris Boyd’s Celtic mole, Boyd doesn’t know anyone inside Celtic and just repeats the wishful thinking of Sevco social media and the agenda of a former Radio Scotland and Daily Record heavyweight expert..
