Kris Ajer suffered a suspected broken eye socket during Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Livingston.

The defender suffered the injury during the second half as Celtic chased a goal and was replaced by Filip Benkovic.

He looks like he has broken his eye socket which isn’t so good. It’s unfortunate, he’s really in a lot of pain, he’ll probably require surgery.”

Ajer missed almost the whole of October with a hamstring injury picked up in the 1-0 Betfred Cup win away to St Johnstone.

The young Norwegian returned for the Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield but had been on the bench for the three matches leading up to today’s clash.

Filip Benkovic was rested for today’s match but was brought on as a replacement for Ajer who could now be out of action until the new year.

Today’s 0-0 draw lifts Celtic into top spot in the SPFL Premiership, ahead of Hearts on goal difference.
