Craig Gordon will be withdrawn from the Scotland squad to face Albania and Israel.

The Celtic keeper was missing from the 0-0 draw against Livingston after being injured early on in the 2-1 win over RB Leipzig.

Asked by Radio Scotland if Gordon would be fit for Scotland Brendan Rodgers said: “I don’t think so, he came through with an injury during the week with his knee and his hip. So almost certainly he won’t make it.”

Gordon has been demoted to understudy to Allan McGregor by Alex McLeish despite being the first choice keeper at the Scottish champions.

Third choice keeper Jon McLaughlin has been excused out of international duty to play with Sunderland next weekend with Kilmarnock’s Jamie MacDonald brought in as McLaughlin’s replacement.

The day after being called up into the Scotland squad MacDonald found himself relegated to second choice at Killie with Daniel Bachmann taking his place in the 1-0 win away to Hearts.

Yesterday McLeish found out that Stephen O’Donnell, Kevin McDonald and Charlie Mulgrew had all withdrawn from his squad.

Scotland are away to Albania on Saturday followed by the final Nations League match at home to Israel on Tuesday.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
