Brendan Rodgers was guarded when he discussed January transfer targets.

At yesterday’s AGM everyone was in agreement that the summer window had been frustrating with only Filip Benkovic coming in on loan to strengthen the squad.

In contrast Moussa Dembele, Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts departed.

With the importance of the July and August European qualifiers the January transfer window is a vital period for Celtic to recruit and bed in new players.

Marvin Compper and Charly Musonda were they key arrivals in January 2018 but it quickly became obvious that their contributions would be limited.

As well as bringing new players in there are a number of players out of contract including Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig.

Since the current season started Celtic have got Olivier Ntcham, James Forrest and Ryan Christie onto new contracts.

In terms of outgoing transfers there is likely to be interest in Dedryck Boyata but it’ll take an exceptional offer for Celtic to consider selling although the defender can leave as a free agent in May.
