Rosenborg are expected to field a shadow team against Celtic in Thursday’s Europa League match.

The Norwegian side still technically have a chance of finishing second in the group but after four defeats coach Rini Coolen will take a practical approach to Thursday’s game which is just three days before the Oslo Final against Stromsgodset.

Rosenborg have just completed their league campaign, finishing as champions five points ahead of Molde vindicating the decision to change manager in July.

After losing out to Celtic in the second qualifying round for the Champions League they negotiated their way through two qualifying rounds to reach the group stage of the Europa League.

Losing again at Celtic Park set the tone for the competition with their most recent result a 5-2 home defeat from group leaders RB Salzburg.

With a cup final at lunchtime on Sunday to clinch the double Coolen won’t be taking any risks against Celtic as he looks to complete an impressive first season in management with two domestic trophies.
