Bookies slash the odds on Gerrard walking away

Steven Gerrard is just a 4/1 bet to quit Sevco before new year.

The former Liverpool youth coach has looked increasingly stressed in recent weeks as results go against his side as Celtic move closer to top form.

Losing in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup to Aberdeen was a hammer blow to the gullible who were led to believe that the title could be won this season.

After that set-back Gerrard warned his players that he would be back in the transfer market in January to bring in better quality.

That claim looks dubious with Sevco posting losses of £14m and bookies giving miserable odds on Gerrard walking away.

The timing on the bet is significant, Sevco’s last match of 2018 is at home to Celtic, unless Gerrard can come up with a victory the baying mob are unlikely to take kindly to more failure against the club that they will forever be measured against.
