Channel 4 News have fallen foul of Sevco!
Ciaran Jenkins was scheduled to interview Steven Gerrard today to preview a documentary about the life and times of the Liverpool legend.
Unlike an in-house interview Channel 4 News are naturally looking for a topical angle to lead with such as a response to Neil Lennon’s claims about racism in Scottish society.
Steven Gerrard’s representative told me in no uncertain terms he would not talk about the attacks on Neil Lennon or the current discussion around sectarianism in Scottish football.
It was suggested I ask him in general terms what it’s like to be manager of Rangers.

We agreed interview would mostly be about issues featured in the film.
I said I’d like to explore what Steven Gerrard’s wife says about him being an emotional person.
I was told not to reference his wife directly and instead say ‘in the film it says you’re an emotional person.’

That seems to have been a red flag for Gerrard’s advisers who rejected that question and other topics such as mention of the Sevco manager’s wife.
Jenkins decided to spill the beans about his wasted day at Murray Park prompting a furious response from Sevco.
The Sun claims:
SunSport Online understands Gers are seething about the way the situation has been portrayed on social media and believe it has been twisted after an agreement about the interview – which was meant to be about the new film and Gerrard’s Liverpool career – was breached.
The club are unhappy that it has been suggested Gerrard would refuse to answer questions about Lennon when he has already spoken out to condemn the recent shameful coin-throwing incidents.
Gerrard will be able to set the record straight tomorrow when he previews Sevco’s Europa League tie against Spartak Moscow.
