Kris Boyd believes that there is ‘every chance’ that Celtic will finish the season as SPFL champions.

Kilmarnock visit Celtic Park today as league leaders having already beaten Brendan Rodgers side earlier this season on the plastic of Rugby Park.

Steve Clarke’s side are suddenly the big hope for ‘neutrals’ desperate to see anyone but Celtic crowned champions at the end of the season.

In-between banging on about Celtic’s broken dressing room to various media outlets Boyd has been watching from the bench as his side mount a title challenge.

Dropping Boyd to the bench has been a master-stroke by Clarke but at the end of the season the veteran striker expects to be watching a familiar movie.

Writing in The Sun the super-sub explains: “We go to Celtic Park with a plan in our heads which we think gives us a chance of winning the game.

Come the end of the season, of course there’s every chance Celtic will be champions once again.

They have two games in hand as things stand, so I very much doubt we’ll finish above them.

But as Leicester proved, you just never know.”

As he has proved down the years with his insights into the Celtic dressing room ‘you never know’ could sum up Boyd’s knowledge of the seven-in-a-row champions.
