One of the journalists closest to Celtic has denied that Lee Congerton has left the club.

Out of nowhere last night rumours emerged that the Head of Recruitment had left less than a month away from the opening of the transfer window.

What has gone on during the last two transfer windows will never be established but there is no denying that it has been frustrating to quote the term used by Peter Lawwell at the recent AGM.

While Lawwell and Brendan Rodgers have regular media access the Head of Recruitment has no platform with his work coming under scrutiny twice a year.

No new first team players have been brought in over the last two windows with Olivier Ntcham and Odsonne Edouard in the 2017 summer window the last players to make an impact on the first team.

Rodgers has revived the careers of Ryan Christie and Dedryck Boyata while a trio of Academy products have become more significant to the team.

With the transfer window opening in three weeks time the performance of Congerton will come under more scrutiny than ever- assuming that he is still at the club.
