Timo Weah has promised the Celtic support a brand new strike force alongside Odsonne Edouard.

The on-loan Paris Saint Germain forward made a scoring debut against Airdrie United/Clydebank and was warmly welcomed by the hoops support.

Weah was a team-mate of Edouard at PSG and has kept in touch since his friend switched to Scotland in August 2017.

“I know Odsonne really well because we played a full season together and became very good friends,” he told the Evening Times. “I am so excited to play here at Celtic with him.

“I already know his qualities and he knows mine. We have a really strong chemistry. We share so much of the same passions and we really get on with one another on and off the field You will see that when we get the chance to play together.

“He is an amazing talent. We have always rooted for each other and it’s pretty amazing that we are both here playing for Celtic. I can’t wait to show the fans what we can do together. It’s going to be a very exciting time for me.”

In pre-season and against Alashkert Brendan Rodgers played with two strikers but injury and the transfer of Moussa Dembele to Lyon put paid to that plan.

Weah replaced Scott Sinclair in Saturday’s win over Airdrie United/Clydebank with Oliver Burke playing through the centre.

That set up is likely to continue against St Mirren on Wednesday night with Edouard pencilled in for a return next weekend away to St Johnstone.

Celtic are hoping to get clearance this week to complete the signing of Vakoun Issouf Bayo but the Ivorian hasn’t played a competitive match since the start of December.
