Celtic will need to find an extra £1m if they are to sign Vakoun Issouf Bayo from Dunajska Streda.

The Ivorian appears to have been identified as Brendan Rodgers’ first choice striker with the hoops boss looking to add two front men during the January transfer window.

With Odsonne Edouard the only striker currently available to Rodgers Celtic are expected to have reinforcements in place when they face Airdrie United/Clydebank in 17 days time but the Daily Record reports:

The Hoops have had a £1.75 million offer rejected for the 21-year-old Ivorian and Record Sport revealed yesterday that his club have slapped a £2.7 million price tag on his head.

Bayo moved to Streda last March and is under contract until June 2021.

With Parma and Rapid Vienna also quoted with an interest in the striker who turns 22 next week Streda will have an unhappy and underpaid player on their hands if he remains in Slovakia after the window closes.

Bayo is unlikely to be on more than £3,000 a week in Slovakia, Celtic could treble that alongside a signing on fee while the pull of working with Kolo Toure is also likely to appeal.
