Izaguirre’s transfer triangle

Emilio Izaguirre is believed to be a transfer target for Turkish side Goztepe.

The 32-year-old returned to Celtic during the summer transfer window but with Calvin Miller’s loan spell at Dundee cut short Brendan Rodgers has a ready made stand-in for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

The story seems to have emerged in a triangle with the Honduran website Diez reporting on the Daily Record who are quoting Turkish reports!

Izaguirre recently deputised for Tierney but was substituted at half-time away to Aberdeen and failed to make the bench at Ibrox.

Neil Lennon signed the Honduran in 2010 for £700,000 with Celtic getting great service before the emergence of Tierney.

In August 2017 Celtic accepted an offer from Saudi side Al Feiha but his family never settled with a return to the hoops arranged a year later.

Getting cover for Tierney has become a problem for Rodgers with Callum McGregor, Jonny Hayes and Izaguirre all tried out in the last two matches.

With his contract expiring in the summer Celtic are unlikely to be looking for a transfer fee while the prospect of regular football in a warm climate is likely to appeal to the left back.
