Brendan Rodgers has virtually dismissed the chances of Celtic signing three players recently linked with a move.

Judging the body language of the Irishman is a tricky business but there seemed to be little indication of exciting additions when he met the media on Monday to preview the visit of St Mirren.

The Paisley side barely merited a question with just over a week to go until the transfer window closes.

After the bleak, in playing terms but not financially, summer transfer window there was some expectations that January would be different but that notion has died away with the rebuilding job put back until the summer.

Last week Rodgers had been quite expansive when asked about Scott McTominay but yesterday the names of Fernando Fonseca, Nick Powell and Dominic Iorfa barely merited a sentence.

The Evening Times reported:

Nothing to add to that really,” was Rodgers’ verdict yesterday on Fonseca; “not one that I’m aware of,” was the answer to Iorfa and “another one to add to list, but nothing on that,” was the verdict on Powell as the Celtic manager dismissed any temptation to offer any clues as to just where the Parkhead side are looking.

It looks like any further business this month will be completed on the final day. Twelve months ago Scott Bain arrived in a bizarre transfer triangle, quickly upstaging Jack Hendry and former superstar Charly Musonda.
