Chris McCart has revealed that Brendan Rodgers set out a five year plan for Karamoko Dembele.

The teenager recently signed a professional contract and can play first team and Development League football when he turns 16 next month.

McCart was a guest on Radio Clyde’s Superscoreboard tonight when the subject of Dembele was brought up, explaining that Dembele was half way through the five year plan mapped out by Rodgers.

The former Motherwell defender revealed that since the age of 9 Celtic have been fighting of offers from elsewhere to sign up what is regarded as the top teenager in European football.

Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila both brought Dembele in for talks with chief executive Peter Lawwell taking a keen interest over the last four years.

In October 2016 Dembele made a ten minute appearance in the Development League against that made him headline news throughout the UK.

So far this season the 15-year-old has been playing for Celtic’s u-18 side as well as making two appearances in the Glasgow Cup which is an u-20 tournament this season.
