Callum McGregor is facing weeks on the sidelines due to the calf injury that he picked up against Valencia.

The midfielder suffered a calf knock during the match and went for a scan after returning from Spain, forcing him out of Sunday’s win over Motherwell.

The Sun claims:

CALLUM McGREGOR is facing a race to be fit for the March 31 Old Firm clash.

SunSport understands the Celtic midfielder is out for WEEKS after picking up a calf injury in last week’s Valencia match.

With Ryan Christie suffering a hamstring injury in the 4-1 win over Motherwell Celtic will face Hearts tonight without four top midfielders- Christie, McGregor, Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham.

Scott Brown will return from suspension with Nir Bitton and Ewan Henderson likely to continue after impressing against Motherwell.

There could also be an unexpected return to the first team squad for Scott Allan who never played a minute of competitive action under Brendan Rodgers.

The midfielder has played in Celtic’s last two Reserve League matches and is a clear favourite of caretaker manager Neil Lennon who signed him on a pre-contract deal for Hibs in January.

Lennon will be introduced to the media at 10am this morning.
