Celtic fans on social media have warned to the prospect of Marco Rose taking over as permanent manager from Brendan Rodgers.
The odds on the RB Salzburg boss moving to Celtic came crashing down to 5/1 over the course of the day.
Rose is no stranger to Celtic after facing the hoops twice in the Europa League- winning comfortably home and away with the manner of the match in Glasgow especially painful at the time. Although an unlikely point for Rosenborg away to RB Leipzig saved the day there was a massive gulf between Celtic and Salzburg that night.
Salzburg cleaned up with full points from Group B while Celtic scraped through as runners up with nine points out of 18.
The big issue is over how much of Salzburg’s success is down to the organisation of the club and how much is due to the coach.
Before taking charge of the RB Salzburg first team in 2017 Rose did take their u-19 side to the UEFA Youth title, they might have had some very gifted players but it takes something special to KO Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Atletico Madrid and Benfica to lift that trophy.
As it stands it appears that the job of full-time manager is Neil Lennon’s to lose, if the club does turn to a Plan B then it seems that Rose has all the attributes required to fill the big shoes that Lennon mentioned last week when he formally took charge.
Celtic fans wanting Lennon over Marco Rose did you learn nothing from trying to pretend Griffiths was better than Dembele

If there’s any chance we could get Marco Rose in the summer we should go for it and let him mould the the scoring setup etc, sure Salzburgs budgetbis smaller than Celtic’s and the wage bill also, plays football the way we should be imo

Marco Rose would be a class appointment. Can’t believe anyone can deny that lmao

A couple of thoughts on Marco Rose. He’s not got much experience aside from at Red Bull, where he has the luxury of being able to buy expensive players, which won’t be the case at Celtic. Is this the right kind of experience for us, and in that context, would he come anyway?

Marco Rose no doubt a potentially exciting appointment. I’d be more buzzing if we signed Lepzigs scouting team though.

Not even going to get remotely excited at the prospect of getting Marco Rose in because it’s definitely not going to happen

marco rose? is the designated successor of nagelsmann at hoffenheim. it has been reported that wolfsburg and schalke also want him. I can’t imagine him spurning the bundesliga to move to #celticfc. https://t.co/vVg0crze7s

I hope it’s true we are after Marco Rose, RB Salzburg have been up there with the best in who we’ve played over last few years and he’s worked with a far smaller budget. Which in itself should grab Lawwell attention

Entirely forgettable, but costly
