Alfredo Morelos has promised to continue to fight with the Celtic defence in Sunday’s derby match.

In December the striker was involved in a number of flashpoints that went unpunished by referee John Beaton.

Incredibly the SFA refused to take any retrospective action despite detailed footage of attacks on Ryan Christie, Scott Brown and Tony Ralston.

Celtic made a statement asking for Beaton to publicly explain why their players weren’t protected but the SFA ignored that request with no follow up coming from Peter Lawwell.

Morelos has picked up four red cards this season but will be free for Sunday’s derby match which will be refereed by Bobby Madden. In December during a game at Tynecastle Madden told a Hearts defender that Morelos ‘was a bit daft’ as he let him away unpunished for a series of fouls.

Covering an in-house interview with Morelos the Daily Record reports the striker saying:

ā€œIā€™m a tough player, I like playing in the air, I like clashing, I like frustrating the defence. No one can faze me.I am the kind of player who is always dedicated to my team and I fight for my team. I am a strong player. I like coming in strong, and hitting the ball hard.

ā€œI am a very “hot” player on the field, I am very passionate, and I like it. When I am competing, when I am active and fighting with the defence, jumping, holding the ball, I would never change the way I am.ā€

Madden will be refereeing Celtic for the second game running on Sunday despite the fact that Willie Collum hasn’t been in charge of the Ibrox side since the start of November and Beaton hasn’t had a game with either Glasgow club in 2019.

Beaton, Collum and Madden are among the seven SFA referees on the FIFA list.
