Scott Bain has revealed the vital role played behind the scenes by Scott Brown and James Forrest.

The last seven days have been as dramatic as any in Celtic’s history but the records show two wins at Tynecastle and Easter Road in the bid for a treble treble.

Behind the scenes tells a different story, for the first time ever a manager has quit in mid-season with Neil Lennon cancelling a seat beside Jose Mourinho in the beIN studio in Doha for a return to front line management.

Last Monday Bain was put up to preview the SPFL match at Hearts during which he casually batted aside speculation linking Brendan Rodgers with Chelsea.

By the time his quotes appeared in Tuesday’s newspapers Rodgers was already in Leicester with just the fine detail to be completed on his deal with most of his back-room staff also part of the deal.

Tuesday morning at Lennoxtown would have been perfect for a fly-on-the-wall documentary with Bain happy to disclose the role played by the goalscorers against Hibs.

This club would be a different place without Broony,” the keeper explained to The Sun. “He does so much for the boys here.

He keeps us together and drives us through in training and demands the highest standards. He is massive for the club, regardless of what has been going on outside the changing room. Guys like him and Jamesy are important here, no matter the circumstances at this football club.

To come to Hibs and win is great. We’ve obviously had to come to Edinburgh for two difficult games but the boys have shown unbelievable character, and most of all quality, to come through with two wins.

It has been a tough few days mentally as well as physically but if you look at the number of important games we play you see that these lads are the strongest mentally. They show that every week.

So it’s been difficult, there has been a little bit of a distraction but I think we have shown our quality in these two games.”

Brown and Forrest will be back to lead from the front against Aberdeen on Saturday as Celtic return home for the first time since Rodgers decided to abandon ship.
