Graham Potter, the Swansea boss is the latest name linked with becoming Celtic’s next permanent manager.

The report, in The Sun, has been written by Alan Nixon, a Scottish journalist based in the north west of England with strong links to a number of top agents.

Potter made his name in Sweden by taking lowly Ostersund to three promotions before reaching the last 32 of the Europa League during an eight year stint at the club where he was assisted by former Hamilton boss Billy Reid.

That success brought him the Swansea job last summer but despite the benefit of parachute payments are sitting in 13th place with no chance of reaching the play-off places.

Potter undoubtedly has managerial ability but as Celtic discovered with Ronny Deila success in Scandinavia doesn’t equate with managing the expectations at Celtic Park.

On the back of seven/eight title wins Celtic require a manager to kick on with the current nucleus of players, not a revolutionary that wants to put their stamp on the club from experiences in the lower reaches of Swedish football.

Yesterday Swansea lost 4-0 away to Queens Park Rangers.
