Fleetwood had got themselves close to the play-off places but appeared to lose the plot today with on loan defender Harry Soutar sent off in the second half..
During his playing days Barton spent 67 days in Strangeways Prison for assault before attempting to reinvent himself as some sort of intellectual that could read books.
Memorably he joined the club from Ibrox in 2016 promising to put Scott Brown and Celtic in their place, after a couple of matches he was on the end of a 5-1 hammering from the hoops and never played another match for the Ibrox club.
After a couple of suspensions his Ibrox contract was paid off allowing him to return to Burnley where he was hit with a 12 month suspension for betting on football matches which ended his playing days.
