As he rambled through his media conference today Steven Gerrard could be fairly certain that none of his points would be contradicted.

Since watching his side slip to 13 points behind Celtic on Sunday the rookie Ibrox boss has been all over the place but fortunately the failings of his team and his decision making have largely been overlooked.

With his side apparently dominating Celtic during Sunday’s match he waited until the 83rd minute to introduce Jermain Defoe- the highest paid player in Scottish football. There are valid claims being made that the on loan Bournemouth striker failed to get a kick of the ball during his 12 minutes on the park.

Scott Brown was apparently disrespectful with his after-match celebrations, perhaps his own reactions have slipped from his memory.

Playing to the limits of the laws is an essential part of the game for many top players, it is admired among their peers. Being a hot head and victim is much easier, it separates the winners from losers.

After his discussion about the lions den last week there is a touch of the Caixinha’s creeping into Gerrard’s media work. After tomorrow’s match against Hearts his words of wisdom will be carefully dissected.
