Ryan Kent is to appeal against the two match suspension he was offered for punching Scott Brown.

The incident was missed by all four officials during Sunday’s Glasgow derby but yesterday afternoon the SFA Compliance Officer picked up on the 86th minute incident.

It seems the most obvious case for retrospective action with extensive evidence available but according to The Sun an appeal is expected to be made later today.

RANGERS will contest Ryan Kent’s two-match suspension for punching Scott Brown.

The on-loan Liverpool ace was charged with violent conduct by the SFA.

But SunSport understands Gers won’t accept the mandatory two-match ban and will fight the decision at a fast-track Hampden hearing on Thursday.

The nature of the appeal seems certain to be a technicality or a stalling tactic to allow Kent to play against Hearts tonight.

The on-loan winger scored the equaliser on Sunday and is widely regarded as the in form player at Ibrox.

Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday will miss tonight’s match through suspension with Steven Gerrard looking for his side to end a run of five matches without a win.

Anything less than a home win at Ibrox tonight coupled with a win for Celtic away to St Mirren would allow the hoops to clinch the title at the weekend by beating Livingston in front of a 60,000 sell out crowd.
