Neil Lennon has pleaded with the Celtic supporters to leave pyrotechnics at home.

Soon after Ryan Christie scored Celtic’s second goal a very noisy firecracker was thrown from behind the goal that the substitute has scored at.

Saints keeper Vaclav Hladky was clearly shaken by the noise of the firework and required some attention, presumably for shock, before the match was able to resume.

Speaking after the match to BT Sport Lennon said: “The club’s standpoint, from the players, staff and people behind the scenes we don’t want pyrotechnics anywhere in the stadium, I don’t see what purpose it serves.

Please don’t bring them to the grounds, they’re just not necessary.”

Tonight’s victory, thanks to goals from Timo Weah and Christie means that Celtic now require four points to clinch the SPFL title.

A win at home to Livingston on Saturday would mean that Steven Gerrard’s side would need to win at Motherwell on Sunday to avoid handing the title to the hoops.

Tonight’s results mean that the make up of the top six is now known with Celtic expected to face trips to Ibrox, Pittodrie and Easter Road as well as home matches against Hearts and Kilmarnock.

The first post split fixtures will be played on April 20 with Celtic likely to be given a home match followed by three away before presentation day on the final match-day, Sunday May 19.
