The odds on Andre Villas-Boas becoming the next Celtic manager have dropped down to 6/1 third favourite, behind Neil Lennon and Roberto Martinez.

Rumours of a round of golf with Dermot Desmond have been enough to excite some punters with the odds quickly dropping on the former Spurs and Chelsea boss succeeding Brendan Rodgers. Recently there was a similar price cut on Rafa Benitez moving to Celtic but punters interest in the Spaniard appears to have cooled.

Despite increasing the lead at the top of the SPFL and progressing to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup there is a growing number of Celtic fans questioning whether Lennon should take the club into next season.

The former Hibs boss has been put into an awkward situation with a squad that has been used to working and playing in a certain way for almost three years.

While the recent performances have been largely flat it seems that some fans have forgotten the early season form that brought four defeats plus draws away to St Mirren, Livingston and Motherwell.

Alex Neil of Preston was also linked with the job from one English based report but at 5/6 Lennon remains the strong favourite to be in charge for the first league match of next season.
