Willy Sagnol is the latest out of work coach linking himself with the manager’s job at Celtic.

With only two years experience of club management at Bordeaux on his management CV it’s highly unlikely that he will be a contender to replace Brendan Rodgers.

There seemed to be a 48 hour embargo on speculation following Celtic’s Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen but hoops fans can now anticipate a glut of names ‘throwing their names into the hat’.

The Sun reports:

Bayern Munich legend Sagnol’s UK-based representative Alex McDonald has confirmed the French World Cup finalist will apply for the role.

McDonald said: “Willy is definitely interested in the Celtic job and will apply in the summer.”

Celtic will have been assessing candidates since the end of February when Rodgers decided to give his life to Leicester City.

Former Huddersfield boss David Wagner was linked with the Celtic job this morning as expectations of a big name such as Roberto Martinez or Rafa Benitez gives way to reality.

Sagnol made his name as a player with Bayern Munich and had a brief spell as caretaker manager of the German giants in the autumn of 2017.

Despite the flood of names being linked with the job Neil Lennon remains the firm favourite to get the job on a permanent basis with a quick decision expected with just 31 days between the Scottish Cup Final and the first pre-season match of next season.
