Big hearted John Kennedy made the day for an Australian Celtic fan.

The Celtic assistant manager heard through a friend of a friend about the dedication of the supporter who had a collection of 57 Celtic shirts- with Kennedy adding a very special 58th signed one.

The video was made last month with Kennedy’s Celtic credentials as strong as anyone currently at the club.

When he made his debut as a 16-year-old in 2000 he was the youngest player to appear in the first team with the high point coming in the Nou Camp four years later when he helped Martin O’Neill’s side to a clean sheet to KO Barcelona from the UEFA Cup.

Tragically his career was virtually ended a week later during his Scotland debut against Romania.

Despite various set-backs he kept battling back, making a return to first team action in the 2007 title clincher away to Kilmarnock.

During a loan spell at Norwich he picked up one knee injury too many, after coaching the Celtic Development side he moved up to the first team where he has worked alongside Ronny Deila, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.

On June 1 the Celtic Graves Society will honour his grand-father, Jimmy Delaney, at Cambusnethan Cemetry.
