Jeremy Toljan is apparently a transfer target for Napoli.

There is a strange trail to this story with the Daily Record appearing to pick up on a report on German website Sport.de who in turn are quoting from “Corriere dello Sport”.

Sport.de goes as far as to claim that Toljan is Napoli’s Plan B following their failure to sign Kieran Trippier from Spurs.

Celtic signed Toljan in the final hours of the January transfer window with the arrival of the German u-21 internationalist looked on as being a long awaited solution to the problems at right-back.

The 24-year-old was thrown into his debut at the first opportunity when he appeared as a substitute in the 2-0 win away to St Johnstone.

A sending off away to Valencia followed by the departure of Brendan Rodgers seemed to effect his confidence with Neil Lennon restoring Mikael Lustig to the Celtic team.

There has been no mention of Celtic looking to extend the defender’s loan deal or make it permanent.
