Chris Hughton has been installed as 6/1 third favourite to become the next Celtic boss after being sacked by Brighton.

Despite steering the south coast club to the semi-final of the FA Cup and setting up a third season in the EPL the axe fell on Hughton this morning, less than 24 hours after the final match of the season.

Paddy Power have the former Irish internationalist priced at 5/1 behind Davie Moyes 9/4 and Neil Lennon 6/4.

Hughton has a tried and tested record in the English game at Newcastle, Birmingham and Norwich before taking Brighton from the bottom half of The Championship to the riches of the EPL.

Celtic haven’t made any comment on their managerial position since appointing Lennon as caretaker at the end of March.

Despite last week’s speculation Jose Mourinho has drifted out to 14/1 to be in charge of Celtic for the first match of next season.
