Scott Brown played at Ibrox with a broken toe.

According to a report in the Daily Record the midfielder visited a hospital yesterday to have a scan on the injury which looks like ruling him out of Sunday’s SPFL clash with Hearts.

Next Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final against Hearts is of far more importance with Neil Lennon anxious to have his skipper leading the hoops out at Hampden chasing a Treble Treble.

The Record reports:

Scott Brown is battling to play through the pain of a broken toe as he bids to lead Celtic to a treble Treble.

Record Sport can reveal the eight-in-a-row skipper visited a Glasgow hospital yesterday for a scan on the injury which could keep him on the sidelines this weekend when the champions celebrate their latest title at home to Hearts.

Celtic’s medical team now face an anxious wait before discovering the full extent of the damage – with Brown desperate to lead his team mates out at Hampden to face the Jambos in the Scottish Cup Final next Saturday when he hopes to make another piece of history.

It’s understood the veteran has been experiencing serious discomfort for a fortnight after initially picking up the injury during the 3-0 win at Pittodrie – the result which carried Neil Lennon’s side over the finishing line.

Jonny Hayes and Odsonne Edouard will both miss Sunday’s match against Hearts through injury with a doubt over the fitness of Mikael Lustig.

James Forrest and Kieran Tierney both missed the match at Ibrox and will be left out again on Sunday in a bid to be fully fit for Hampden.

Karamoko Dembele and Ewan Henderson were mentioned by Lennon at yesterday’s media conference with others from the Reserve squad likely to be involved at Sunday’s trophy day.
