Leigh Griffiths has taken to twitter suggesting that he is about to return to first team action.

The striker made his last appearance at the start of December when he played in the 5-0 win over Kilmarnock before being withdrawn from action by Brendan Rodgers.

At the end of March Griffiths returned to training under caretaker boss Neil Lennon who has been positive and protective about the striker that he signed from Wolves in January 2014.

Griffiths has still to be pictured training with his Celtic team-mates but with three matches left this season it’s likely that he will be given an outing at some stage.

Odsonne Edouard has been carrying the striking burden since Lennon returned to the club but the caretaker boss hasn’t hidden how much he wants to have Griffiths back as an option.

Earlier this season Griffiths scored his 100th goal as a Celtic player.
