Connor Goldson has admitted that Scott Brown was too smart for his Ibrox team-mates during the March Glasgow derby.

While the former Shrewsbury starlet kept his cool Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Andy Halliday all served suspensions for incidents involving the Celtic skipper.

Brown has experienced everything possible that a Glasgow derby can throw up with nine title winners medals to show for his efforts.

Some Celtic fans believe that Brown ‘lives rent free in their heads’ with Goldson confirming the influence that the veteran midfielder has in his dressing room.

Truthfully, and people won’t like me saying this, but Brown has been very clever,” the Ibrox defender told The Sun.

People will say, ‘Why don’t we do it?’. But realistically, it’s not right to do. At the same time, he benefited his team by doing it and we were a bit inexperienced. We shouldn’t get sucked in by that and on that day we were.

It’s just something we have to learn from and not let it happen again, because it hurt us.

There’s always going to be stuff in Old Firm games from both teams. Last time we were inexperienced and we acted like that.

We’re a young team and in the end it cost us — and you can’t afford to do that.”

Kevin Clancy will be tasked with keeping emotions in check with his first ever Glasgow derby appointment.

Brown will lead the champions out to face up to Morelos, Kent and Halliday who are all available again after suspensions.

In his pre-match media conference Neil Lennon said that the Ibrox club has a huge problem with discipline.
