In the midst of the ‘will he- won’t he’ debate about David Turnbull’s future it seems that the midfielder sent a subtle message that he was still open to a deal with Celtic.

While he was in Norwich for signing talks he tuned in to John Kennedy’s media conference and liked one tweet from the official Celtic account. Although it was quickly deleted it wasn’t the actions of a teenager closing the door.

Throughout Wednesday and Thursday Turnbull would have read the quotes from the Celtic assistant as he weighed up his options at Norwich, possibly including a loan back to Motherwell.

That option wouldn’t have overly bothered the midfielder but with the club newly promoted big changes are expected with little prospect of the club going out of their way to accommodate a developing 20-year-old from Scotland.

With £100m to play for by surviving in the EPL developing projects won’t be a priority for Daniel Farke.

Turnbull has watched Ryan Christie and Kris Ajer play in the SPFL then become a force in Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten side, he’s familiar with the story and will fancy his chances of getting game time, he’ll also have a fair idea about the players he’ll be working alongside.

His signing should be completed over the next 24 hours, never underestimate the powers of social media!
