The Sun has claimed that a minor knee operation is holding up David Turnbull’s transfer.

It’s now six days since the midfielder was pictured wearing a Celtic top inside the club boardroom but on Tuesday night it emerged that there was an issue with his medical.

With a £3m transfer fee at stake the deal is of huge significance to Motherwell but unless they reassess the situation the player could be heading back to Fir Park.

The Sun reports:

It’s understood the 19-year-old needs a minor knee operation that would put him out for a period. Celtic are now looking to renegotiate the initial £3.25m deal but Well are standing firm after talks.

Since Motherwell opted to publish a statement revealing that they had agreed terms with Celtic the issue has become fraught with problems.

Two days later Celtic used twitter to explain why their offer hadn’t been accepted with Turnbull expected to join Norwich City after they matched Celtic’s offer.

Last Thursday it emerged that Turnbull’s preference was to move to Celtic but a week later both clubs are back discussing terms as they examine his medical record.
