Unless there is still one more dramatic twist to the story Tom English is going to look rather silly when David Turnbull is introduced to the media as a Celtic player.
The chief sports writer for BBC Scotland has been keeping a close eye on transfer activities from duties at the Woman’s World Cup in France.
Never slow to look for attention he was quick to slam Celtic for missing out on Turnbull, last night he had something of a U-turn after discovering that it’s not quite over till the fat lady sings, or in football signs on the dotted line.
Dramatic end to the David Turnbull saga. Motherwell have done really well, the player has done really well. Celtic? They’ve now bid for and failed to get McGinn, McKenna and Turnbull. Not a good look

The question is , if David Turnbull signs for Celtic, will you resign?!! ????

It’s a saga because people in the media couldn’t let the 19yr old lad explore his options without sensationalism at every turn. Fair play to him for exploring his options

The laugh is on you Tom

The ultimate irony of course would be Turnbull signing this morning for Norwich City but it does seem that this saga has used up it’s quota of twists and turns.
Since Motherwell decided to go public after accepting an offer from Celtic this has turned into the most public of transfers mainly played out across social media.
When Turnbull is introduced as a Celtic player there are bound to be some awkward moments and questions but not many 19-year-old’s manage to get everything right.
The real test will be on the park, if Turnbull is looking forward to the group phase of the Champions League at the end of the transfer window it will all have been worthwhile.
