The SPFL has put the first Glasgow derby of the season back to Sunday September 1 with a noon kick off at Ibrox for Sky Sports.
Both clubs could be involved in Europa League play-off ties on the Thursday before making an early decision on delaying the fixture the sensible choice.
With the transfer window closing at midnight the following day it should be a busy weekend with the derby clash coming in the middle of a frantic period that could see Celtic back in the Champions League and heavily involved in the transfer market.
The derby clash is followed by the first international break of the season, just as things are building up some momentum.
Celtic open their defence of the title at home to St Johnstone on August 3 with their first away match, at Fir Park on August 10 brought forward for a noon kick off to be screened by Sky Sports.
