PJ Crossan has signed for League One Dumbarton.

Celtic signed the striker from Dunfermline in 2016 but during his three years at the club he failed to nail down a regular place in the Reserve or Development League sides.

Loan spells with part-timers at Alloa and Stranraer didn’t really help his development but they did catch the eye of Jim Duffy who has taken him to Dumbarton.

In their Betfred Cup group Dumbarton are in alongside Annan, Morton, Motherwell and Queen of the South ahead of their opening League One match at home to Raith Rovers on August 3.

Regan Hendry is likely to be in the Rovers side with another freed Celt, goalkeeper Reece Willison signing a two year contract with Airdrie United.

On loan at Stranraer last season Crossan scored 3 goals in 15 starting appearances which was similar to his record at Alloa the previous season.
