While Celtic were seeing off Sarajevo to reach the second qualifying round of the Champions League it appears that a deal was concluded to sign Hatem Abdel Hamid.

The Hapoel Beer Sheva defender has been linked with Celtic over the last couple of weeks with Israeli site Sports Walla last night claiming that a deal has been concluded.

According to the agreement Be’er Sheva will receive close to 2 million euros on the brake, and a bonus of 300,000 euros if the Scots qualify for the Champions League. Elhamid will cooperate with Nir Bitton.

Hamid is two years into a five year contract with Be’er Sheva but missed last week’s Europa League qualifier against away to Laci of Albania.

There were mixed reports over whether he had pulled out of that match due to an expected transfer or while recovering from injury.

Hamid has mainly played as a central defender but can also fill in at right-back but his pedigree at the age of 28 is hardly inspiring.

Spells in Romania and Belgium failed to take off before he returned to Israel with Ashdod, earning a transfer to Be’er Sheva in 2017.

Hamid is represented by Dudu Dahan who is also the agent of Nir Bitton.
