Arsenal haven’t given up in their attempts to take Kieran Tierney to London with The Sun reporting talks ongoing between the two clubs.

Earlier this week it seemed that the there was no life left in the story but between the lines it appears that the two clubs are still hoping to find some middle ground. Whether Tierney wants to quit Celtic for a club drifting further from the EPL title on a yearly basis is still not known.

Last month Derek McGregor of The Sun was first to break news of Arsenal’s interest, tonight he claimed:

ARSENAL have reopened talks with Celtic over a £25million deal for Kieran Tierney. SunSport revealed this week that the Gunners were still very keen to sign the 22-year-old Scotland left back despite two failed bids.

And now Emirates chiefs — who haven’t yet made a third offer — are determined to finally land Tierney before the English transfer window shuts on August 8.

The Gunners have already met Celtic’s asking price — but refused to pay the money up front. Celtic are not interested in payment clauses that might never be realised. The Scotland star is under contract until 2023 and that leaves them in a strong position but Arsenal believe the clubs aren’t actually that far apart and can still reach agreement.

Since the £3m signing of Boli Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna Celtic fans have been fearful that a deal will be struck for Tierney.

The player hasn’t said a word about the speculation with no reason to doubt his commitment to Celtic as he recovers from injury.

With two weeks left until the EPL transfer window closes for once Celtic fans aren’t worried about the defender’s slow return to match fitness.
