The grim realisation that Mike Ashley is due costs of ‘many millions of pounds’ has sparked the entrepreneurial spirit among many Ibrox fans.

For years the fabled ‘blue pound’ has long been discussed without any solid evidence from a fan-base who prefer to keep their hands in their pockets while urging Sugar Daddies to find the funds to stop Ra Elise.

The 120,000 fans that emptied Lark hall, Winning and Bears den in 2008 to travel to Manchester is often held up as the symbol of a massive support but with the scenes of devastation beamed across Europe made an already poisonous brand even more toxic.

Doing the bouncy and singing Penny Arcade from their mobile homes and tents was strangely never picked up as a serious business venture but speculating over the pulling power of Bears worldwide still occupies the thoughts of many of the gullible.

As they discovered in the darkest hour of the old club talk is cheap, supporters of Hearts, Dundee, Dunfermline and Motherwell didn’t let their club die, they raised the funds that created a CVA.

With no credible supporters group to ask questions or raise funds the current crisis has many parallels with the explosion in demand for ice crème and jelly during 2012.
