Roger Mitchell is standing by his comments that ‘Rangers’ are in serious financial trouble after his view was mocked last week in the mainstream media.

Mitchell was chief executive of the SPL from 1998-2002 during which the Cheating Years started with the SPL accepting watered down contracts for Tore Andre Flo and Ronald de Boer while millions were paid into a Discount Option Scheme that later provided the club with a tax bill for £2.8m.

At the same time that Celtic were paying wages comparible with the EPL to Chris Sutton, Neil Lennon, John Hartson and Henrik Larsson the SPL raised no questions about de Boer and Flo signing contracts worth half those amounts to leave Barcelona and Chelsea!

The on going legal issues between Ibrox and Sports Direct have been very one sided with Dave King’s board appearing to operate in a similar bubble to Dave Murray thinking that their club is outwith the laws of the land.

HMRC proved to be the downfall of the old club with Sports Direct, Close Brothers, Hummel or Elite capable of landing the killer blow to King’s tribute act.

Sports Direct look the most likely to call time up with only the most humiliating of Surrender Documents capable of saving the club from horrendous costs on September 23. Unless they find Ashley in the most friendly and compassionate of moods such an offer is almost certain to be rejected after five years of orchestrated hostility from inside Ibrox.

As King and his dwindling band of cheerleaders rearrange the chairs on the Titanic it seems only a matter of time before jelly and ice cream is back on the menu with September 23 likely to be an out of season bonanza for supermarkets.
