Peter Ankersen is on his way out of Copenhagen opening the door to a possible move to Celtic.

Neil Lennon recently went on record saying that he wanted to sign two right-backs with the 28-year-old capable of fitting half of that requirement with Hatem Abd Elhamed announced as a right-back.

Ankersen appears to tick every box of Celtic’s online scouting network but there has never been anything from within the club suggesting that the Dane is a target.

The Daily Record explains:

The experienced right-back is surplus to requirements at the Danish champions where manager Stale Solbakken has said he expects him to leave before the end of this transfer window.

The 28-year-old is in the final year of his deal at Copenhagen and is understood to have been on Neil Lennon’s transfer wishlist throughout the summer.

Right-back has been a concern for Celtic for over a year and became a priority over the summer as Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan all departed.

Twelve months ago Cristiano Piccini appeared close to joining Celtic but left Sporting Lisbon for Valencia while the January focus seemed to be on Timothy Castagne who now has Champions League football to look forward to at Atalanta.
