The day after scoring against East Fife in the Betfred Cup Filip Helander has been dropped from Steven Gerrard’s Europa League squad.
Costing £3m from Bolgna the towering Swede was billed as a cross between Virgil van Dijk and Harry Maguire when he was introduced as the only £1m plus summer signing.
UEFA allow 25 players to be registered for each round with Helander making the squad for the third round tie against Midtjylland but won’t be in the squad that travels to Poland to take on Legia Warsaw on Thursday.
New signings Brandon Barker and Andy King have been included in the squad with Helander and former Shrewsbury star Greg Docherty dropping out. Andy Halliday remains in the squad.
Thursday’s match kicks off at 7pm CPT with the local fans expected to provide a very hostile reception for the loyal bears of Kilwinning, Larkhall and Bearsden.
An impressive piece of work from @StephenODauthor could be perfect timing with Mr Ashley due a rather large wedge on September 23.https://t.co/DhGOuONYkp
