Neil Lennon has explained that Marian Shved is taking time adjusting to his new life in Scotland.

The young Ukranian has made just one competitive appearance this season but made a favourable impression with a goal during a 20 minute run out against Nomme Kalju.

Shved was again missing from the Celtic squad that beat AIK 2-0 last night with his manager explaining the reason for his absence after being on the bench against Dunfermline and Cluj.

“A little bit frustrated, he just needs to up his tempo and his work,” Lennon told the Daily Record when asked about the winger. “It’s still, again, an adaptation period for him. He’s 21, in a new country and doesn’t speak great English so, we know we’ve got a good player on our hands and we’ll see more of him as the season progresses.”

Shved joined Celtic towards the end of the January transfer window prompting Brendan Rodgers’ infamous ‘million wingers’ quote.

The 22-year-old returned to Karpaty Lviv on loan where he made a favourable impression on Celtic fans following his progress on You Tube.

Celtic were reported to have paid £1.75m for Shved who returned to Glasgow in May to train with Celtic in preparation for pre-season training.
